The ukulele is a small, guitar-like instrument, which was introduced to Hawaii by Portuguese immigrants from Madeira. The tone and volume of the instrument vary with size and construction. Ukuleles commonly are made in four sizes: soprano, concert, tenor, and baritone. This course serves as an introduction to the instrument and will provide students with an instant access to making music on the ukulele. Focus points will be strumming, rhythms, solo, reading music and improvising so that the learners get accustomed to the way the instrument has been used down the centuries.
